In 2023 We Saw SEVEN Breeders’ Cup Favourites Win – But They ALL Came On Saturday
Looking back at the 2023 Breeders’ Cup results, it wasn’t a great start to the meeting for favourite backers.
Why? Not a single jolly won on the Friday.
However, this took a dramatic turnaround on the Saturday with a massive seven (of the 9) races going to the market leader.

This means, overall, from the 14 Breeders’ Cup races in 2023 a massive 50% went to the favourite. With 78% of these (all 7) coming on the Saturday.

Only FOUR Winning Breeders’ Cup Classic Market Leaders In The Last 20 – But The Last Two Have Won
The biggest Breeders’ Cup race at the meeting is the Classic, which will be run at 9:41pm (GMT), and City Of Troy will be looking to become the first European-trained winner since Raven’s Pass in 2008.
However, despite being popular with the best betting sites in the UK those looking to back the Breeders’ Cup Classic favourite might want to know that the race has only produced four winning market leaders in the last 20 runnings.
American Pharoah won as favourite in 2015, but there was a lull between 2017 and 2021. Until Flightline ended that in 2022 as the 4/9 favourite.
The slightly better news for City Of Troy fans is that this favourites record continued into 2023 when White Abarrio won the Classic (watch below).
