Pakistan cricketing stalwart Sarfaraz Ahmed has quashed speculations surrounding his alleged plans to migrate to the United Kingdom. Amidst reports of him leaving the country, the wicket-keeper batsman clarified his intentions and stated his unwavering commitment to Pakistani cricket.

“I can’t even think of leaving Pakistan. Confirm before running such fabricated news,” Sarfaraz Ahmed emphasised during the interview with Samaa Digital.

“Sad to see such news.”

Earlier, Cricket Pakistan reported that a disheartened Sarfaraz had left Pakistan and moved to London in England with his family. The sources told the publication that he will be part of the Pakistan Super League and will represent Quetta Gladiators.

Whether Sarfaraz keeps his place in the squad remains to be seen. Pakistan will make their Test cricket return in August, when they host Bangladesh for two matches. In Test cricket, Sarfaraz has amassed 3031 runs in 54 Tests.

Mohammad Rizwan replaced Sarfaraz after the first Test against Australia and put on scores of 42, 35, 88 and 28. He seems to have the team management’s backing. Not to forget, Rizwan was dropped for Sarfaraz even when he was the designated vice-captain.

But with a change in captain and coaches, Rizwan made his return after being benched for the opening Test match in Australia.

Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket chief Zaka Ashraf resigned on Friday, citing a lack of powers to administer the board.

“We can’t work with our hands tied, so I am resigning from the post,” Ashraf told local media. “I wanted to do work for the betterment of cricket in Pakistan.”
