Global regulatory news service Chemical Watch News & Insight is looking for an ambitious news journalist with a keen interest in reporting on environmental policy and regulatory developments, to join our 21-strong editorial team.
Chemical Watch News & Insight reports on the steps being taken by governments, businesses, and NGOs around the world to improve the safe management of chemicals – a goal vital to human health and the environment.
The current vacancy is on our Asia desk where the successful candidate will join a team of three full-time journalists covering regulatory developments across key jurisdictions. They will report to our UK-based managing editor for Asia.
Experience of reporting on a relevant subject such as environmental regulation, policy development, public health or the chemical industry would be an advantage – as would experience in reporting on countries in Asia.
Above all, the successful candidate must have substantial demonstrable experience in generating original news stories, and high-quality multi-sourced news analysis articles, in a professional newsroom environment.
Also essential is the capability to build good working contacts with the regulatory authorities, industry bodies, consultants, legal firms, and NGOs concerned with the safe management of chemicals in the region.
The successful candidate must have excellent writing skills and the drive to develop an understanding of the regulatory agenda.
While the primary task will be to research and write news stories, the successful candidate will also contribute longer-form articles for our ‘insight’ section.
Attendance at industry events may include travel to Asia to attend the annual Chemical Watch Regulatory Summit for the region.
