Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the first Monday Night Football of the new NFL season, which sees the New York Jets travel to the Levi’s Stadium to take on the reigning NFC champion San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers fell just short last season, going down 25-22 in overtime as the Kansas City Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in five years.
The Jets, meanwhile, crumbled to a disappointing 7–10 for the second consecutive season. They also featured in last season’s opening Monday Night Football, beating the Buffalo Bills in a game that was, of course, overshadowed by Aaron Rodgers suffering a season-ending torn Achilles tendon after only 4 snaps.
Rodgers returns tonight and the Jets will be hoping he manages to survive for far longer this time. Join us as we begin counting down to today’s game.
