AMRA is a leading player in the music industry, dedicated to transforming the way music is licensed, distributed, and monetized. We are looking for a Senior Legal Director to join our dynamic team and continue driving our industry-leading initiatives forward.

The successful candidate will be >7 years PQE and lead an experienced in-house commercial team to support our international licensing and client agreements.


WHAT WOULD YOU DO AS A LEGAL DIRECTOR AT AMRA?
  • Legal Strategy: Develop and implement legal strategies that align with our business goals, with a focus on digital licensing, intellectual property protection, and regulatory compliance.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations for complex licensing agreements, partnerships, and other legal arrangements, ensuring favourable terms for the company.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks across various business functions, providing proactive advice and solutions.
  • Compliance: Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure compliance with relevant laws and standards, particularly in the digital music space.
  • Where relevant, act as an advisor, trainer, and approver QWE [Qualifying Work Experience] for AMRA’s Legal employees
  • Working with outsourced legal support to manage workload and priorities as appropriate

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in the music industry, specifically in performing rights organizations (PRO) or music publishing. Direct experience with digital licensing is highly preferred.
  • Experience gained in-house and/or in private practice of advising on IP commercial, data, licensing, privacy and international law.
  • Legal Expertise: Strong background in contract law, intellectual property, and entertainment law, with a track record of successful negotiations and legal strategy development.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the music industry landscape, including emerging trends, technologies, and legal challenges.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, with excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and contribute to the company’s long-term vision and growth objectives.
  • Work Ethic: A motivated and driven individual who is passionate about driving positive change in the music industry, and willing to work hard to achieve our goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to build strong relationships.
