The Good Clothes Show’s three-day programme kicks off with a student day on the Friday, supported by Lucy and Yak. The event is an entire weekend of immersive sustainable fashion events, including upcycling workshops, the unveiling of the Circular Machine, and talks from international sustainability experts. In addition, there will be runway shows to spotlight designers innovating the sustainable fashion sphere.
The Global Fashion Exchange and Big Swap will be hosting a clothing swap. Ticket holders will be invited to bring their gently used garments and exchange them for “pre-loved treasures,” in an effort to promote a more sustainable approach to fashion by extending the life cycle of clothing.
Founder of the Big Swap, Zoe Sussmeyer said of the event, “We’re thrilled to bring the Biggest Clothes Swap to Birmingham with The Good Clothes Show. This event is about more than just swapping clothes; it’s about creating a vibrant community of sustainability enthusiasts. We can’t wait to see the energy and excitement as people come together to share their love of fashion and make a positive impact.”
The Big Swap hosts events across the United Kingdom.
This sentiment was mirrored by Patrick Duffy, the founder of Global Fashion Exchange, “Clothing swaps are more than just a way to refresh your wardrobe; they’re a powerful tool for promoting sustainable fashion. By exchanging clothes, we extend the life cycle of garments, reduce waste, and encourage a more circular economy. It’s a simple yet impactful way to make a positive difference for our planet.”
The Good Clothes show provides a platform for those interested in promoting sustainable practices in the fashion industry at every level – from consumer to producer. By showcasing new ways to engage with our clothes while addressing the industry’s most urgent issues, The Good Clothes Show aims to fundamentally shift the conversation.
