Can they all win? We take a look at each of today’s Ryan Moore rides at Listowel.
Ryan Moore Riding Four Horses at Listowel Today
Top horse racing jockey Ryan Moore has ridden many winners all around the world, but he’s NEVER raced at Listowel races before.
The three-time British champion jockey, who has won every British and Irish Classic over the years, will get the leg-up on four horses at Listowel today (Tuesday 24th September) as the Irish venue continue their seven-day bonanza meeting that also features the Kerry National on Wednesday.
As the action heads into Tuesday, the meeting is boosted by one of the best jockeys in the world heading to the course – so let’s look at the Ryan Moore’s rides today at Listowel.
Oh, and if you think Ryan Moore can ride them all to win, you’ll be rewarded at around 55/1 with the best horse racing betting sites in the UK.
2:00 – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (2yo) 7f RTV: THRICE
Ryan Moore’s first ride at Listowel today should be a winning one, as he’s on a hot-pot with the bookies called Thrice.
This Aidan O’Brien runner was a close third on debut at the Curragh at the end of August over today’s 7f trip and with the expected improvement this Wootton Bassett colt can get Moore off to the perfect start.
Thrice also holds entries in the Group One Dewhurst Stakes and Futurity Trophy Stakes, so is clearly held in high regard.
While O’Brien also won this race in 2020 and 2021. His biggest danger looks to come from Hostility, who is trained by Aidan’s son Joseph.
3:45 – Edmund & Josie Whelan Memorial Listowel Stakes (Listed Race) (3yo+) 1m1f TG4: MUNDI
Moore has to wait around for almost two hours till his next Listowel ride today, which comes in the 3:45pm on Mundi – a Listed contest that is worth €23k to the winner.
This 3 year-old colt won on debut on the AW at Dundalk back in April over a mile but has failed to build on that early promise with two defeats since at the Curragh.
Connections have given his Galileo colt a small break (86 days) to strengthen up and breeding suggests this slightly longer trip will suit.
His main rivals look to be Fleur De Chine and Curvature, who both represent last year’s winning trainer Jessica Harrington.

4:20 – MAC Hardware & Farm Supplies Irish EBF Rated Race (2yo) 1m TG4: MEDICI VENUS
The next Ryan Moore ride at Listowel today is Medici Venus, who will be having her fourth career start.
This Aidan O’Brien-trained 2 year-old filly is yet to break her duck, but has built on her debut run (17th) to run much better at Naas (4th of 16) and Galway (2nd of 16) – with her last run going down by just a shorthead.
She’ll only have four runners taking her on with a few non-runners, and Mr O’Brien has a solid 33% strike-rate with his 2 year-olds here at the track.
5:30 – Jet, Peggy & Eamonn O’Carroll Memorial Handicap (3yo) 1m6½f TG: EMPHASIS
Moore has to then wait for the final race on today’s Listowel card for his final ride – which comes on a horse called Emphasis.
This 3 year-old colt will be having his fifth career start today but has already tasted a win when going in at Killarney back in July over 1m 3 1/2f.
He was upped to 1m6f the last day at Leopardstown, when down the field (7th), but that also came in a Listed race so the ease into a handicap today for the first time will be in his favour.
Moore will also ride this horse for the first time and the yard are 30% with their 3 year-olds at the course.
