After what feels like an eternity, Love Is Blind UK has finally arrived on Netflix, bringing the iconic reality show this side of the pond. And they have not let us down. With over six proposals, countless love triangles and people saying ‘I don’t’ at the altar, we’re firmly invested in the first season of Love Is Blind UK.
The first couple to get engaged on the show was Sabrina and Steven, who went on to say ‘I do’ and get married on their wedding day. But unfortunately during the Love Is Blind UK reunion a year later, the pair shared that they were no longer together, and had split since the show aired. So what happened? Here’s what you need to know.
What happened for Steven and Sabrina at the Love Is Blind UK reunion?
During the Love Is Blind UK reunion, Sabrina shared how she felt like Steven didn’t make enough effort to make the long distance work after the experiment. While they had planned to split their time between Belfast and London, where they both live, Sabrina said she didn’t think he had kept up his end of the bargain, and while she had travelled to London seven times, he hadn’t done the same. “I don’t feel like you respected me,” she said.
She also said Steven had dropped out of a family Christmas with her days before, and was putting his business and gym first. Steven insisted he was going through private things at the time, and that she wasn’t being honest or fair about how things had gone down.
Obviously, we only saw a small insight into their relationship, but here’s to hoping the pair are able to learn from the experiment and move on.
Steven and Sabrina don’t currently follow each other on Instagram.
What happened for Sabrina and Steven during Love Is Blind UK?
35-year-old director of marketing and communications Sabrina and 37-year-old gym owner Steven were one of the first dates we were shown during episode one.
They got on very well during the first date discussing their jobs, location and their shared personality traits. Although they do vary on their love of cold showers.
During their second date they revealed what they were look for in a partner, and Steven also revealed he was partial to wearing a pair of budgie smugglers. You do you Steven. They both spoke candidly about their relationships with their grandparents an how much they meant to them.
While it seemed things were going swimmingly the pair did reach a slight stumbling block on their approach to children. Sabrina revealed she’s more focussed on building her relationship with her partner, than having children and she would be fine with not having children. Whereas Steven expressed how having children was extremely important to his future life.
On their next date they spoke more about children and Sabrina suggested she would be open to surrogacy or adoption, which Steven seemed very happy with.
When they met in their reveal the pair seemed very happy with each other, with Sabrina describing the meeting as the “best moment of her life”. In episode four they headed with the rest of the couples to Corfu, and carried on building their connection.
When they returned to London things carried on well for the pair. They first met with Steven’s friends and brother, who while thinking the experiment itself was “bonkers”, were all in agreement that Sabrina was a great match for their friend.
They then travelled to Belfast to meet up with Sabrina’s sisters and mum. They all really liked Steven, however her mum was a little anxious about the idea of her daughter’s wedding, but appeared to give Steven her blessing.
What happened on Sabrina and Steven’s wedding day?
Sabrina and Steven were the first couple to walk down the aisle in episode 10 of Love Is Blind UK, and the pair kicked things off strong by saying ‘I do’. Everything went off without a hitch, and the pair officially tied the knot (yep, the weddings are legally binding.)
Steven said in his vows, “Sabrina, I stand here today as a lucky man, who’s grateful for our journey and is excited for what’s to come. I promise to always make you my number one. To be the hug before you realise you need it. I vow to uphold our daily check ins, so I can lift you up when you’re low. I promise nothing less than a life of crazy good chapters, as we grow old hand in hand.”
While Sabrina replied, “Steven. I promise to love you everyday and have the patience love requires on more challenging days. I promise to bring laughter on the good days, and unwavering support in the difficult moments. I will dream with you, celebrate with you, and encourage you to be the best version of yourself. And with your courage and support, I will strive to be the best version of me, for you.”
We’re so sad it didn’t work out, but let’s hope they’re both doing alright.
