Harry Singh is an Indian-origin English all-rounder. He has made it to the most recent rounds of news, after coming on as a substitute fielder in the first Test match against Sri Lanka.

Harry, alongside Charlie Barnard and Kesh Fonseka, was selected as the potential 12th-man substitute for England in the inaugural Test at the iconic Old Trafford Stadium. Not only does the young 20-year-old have Indian roots, but also has a deep connection with Indian cricket.

Who is Harry Singh? 

Born on June 16, 2004, Harry Singh is an England all-rounder, who has risen through the ranks at the Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC). The 20-year-old got the breakthrough after he was selected as one of the three 12th-man candidates for the inaugural Test match against Sri Lanka. 

He made his first appearance at the Old Trafford right after England opted to bowl after winning the toss. Harry again came on the pitch, as a substitute for Harry Brook. The names that he once looked up to, are now his team-mates. 

Harry, who is yet to receive his maiden England call-up, has already had his name come in the news, garnering all the attention. He is the son of former India cricketer, RP Singh Senior. 

Who is Harry Singh’s father?

RP Singh Senior, Harry Singh’s father, represented the Indian cricket team in the 1980s. He was a left-arm fast bowler hailing from Uttar Pradesh. Singh played two ODIs against Australia and had a rich domestic career to show for himself. 

RP Singh Senior played 59 first-class matches, bagging 150 wickets and scoring 1413 runs to his name. After hanging his boots, Singh transitioned into coaching, migrating to the United Kingdom in the late 1990s. 

He has worked for Lancashire County Cricket Club, and the prestigious England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) too.

Which team does Harry Singh play for in England’s domestic circuit?

Harry Singh has represented LCCC ever since he was a child. Singh Senior, took up a coaching job at the county club after he retired as a player. It is safe to say that Harry has been a boyhood Lancashire fan, and repping the club would be nothing short of a dream.

Harry joined the Lancs Academy at the age of 15 and has progressed through the ranks to represent England at the U-19 level. He made his senior-team debut for Lancs in July 2024 and has gone on to make seven appearances so far.
