Moore Kingston Smith, a leading multi-disciplinary advisory, tax and audit firm, has launched a new business immigration legal service. The offering will be spearheaded by newly recruited immigration solicitor, Rebecca Hone.
The cumulative legacy of Brexit and increasingly stringent immigration controls has made addressing labour shortages even harder. As clients struggle with the complexities of applying for sponsor licences to employ migrant workers, huge amounts of productivity are being lost.
To address this, Moore Kingston Smith has resolved to help incorporate and structure UK entities to comply with UK immigration rules, utilise sponsor licences to hire and retain workers, and fulfil reporting and record-keeping responsibilities. In a post-Brexit world, the team helps with the transfer of overseas workers to the UK for European and European Economic Area businesses which now require immigration permission.
The new business immigration law services sit alongside the firm’s existing legal offering for businesses and private individuals. The service encompasses all aspects of business immigration, from tailored right-to-work training for UK employers, to addressing immigration enforcement notices, illegal working penalties, and the prevention and management of sponsor licence issues. It also extends to mergers and acquisitions, advising on sponsor licence and right-to-work ramifications resulting from a sale, purchase or takeover, and assisting with the transfer of sponsored workers to new entities.
While the immigration service is born out of increasing demand to help clients have their people in the right locations, not all the demand is from corporate entities. Additionally, a private immigration service for high-net-worth individuals seeking guidance on the right to live in the UK, and on visitor and business visa applications forms part of the offering.
Rebecca Hone, Solicitor at Moore Kingston Smith commented, “Immigration is rarely straightforward. We make things easier for our clients by providing a service bespoke to their situation, carving innovative, commercially practical solutions where standard routes are not an option.”
Hone recently joined Moore Kingston Smith to head up the new offering – bringing a decade of legal practice with her. Most recently a senior associate with Clarks Legal, she has also held roles with Withers Worldwide, Davidson Morris, and Ashton Ross Law.
Commenting on her addition to the firm, Andrew Bloom, partner and head of legal services at Moore Kingston Smith, commented, “Rebecca’s expertise adds another important string to our bow and helps serve our corporate and private clients, who increasingly seek immigration law services alongside our existing offering.”
