Wolves vs. Man City lineups, expected starting 11, confirmed team news and injuries: Guardiola gives De Bruyne update | Sporting News United Kingdom

Manchester City resume their Premier League title chase with a visit to struggling Wolves on Sunday, October 20.

The reigning champions slipped a little behind Liverpool at the top of the standings following consecutive draws with Arsenal and Newcastle United, although an entertaining 3-2 win over Fulham prior to the international break kept them within a point of Arne Slot’s Reds.

Next up is a trip to Molineux to face a Wolves side who lost six of their opening seven league fixtures of 2023/24 to leave manager Gary O’Neil facing huge pressure.

Injury concerns for the hosts means confidence is at a particularly low ebb, although the fact they won this fixture in September 2023 may give them at least some belief in an upset.

Wolves vs. Man City lineups, predicted starting 11, team news

Wolves face several injury concerns, leaving manager Gary O’Neil with a major challenge as he attempts to turn around their poor form.

Hwang Hee-chan suffered an awful ankle injury during international duty with South Korea, leaving the pitch after just 23 minutes. Meanwhile, Yerson Mosquera, who sustained a injury against Aston Villa, has undergone successful knee surgery and is now recovering.

Enso Gonzalez and Sasa Kalajdzic are also unavailable as they continue their rehabilitation process, and Boubacar Traore is not expected to play until late December.

Wolves predicted XI (4-5-1, right to left): Johnstone (GK) — Semedo, Bueno, Toti, Ait Nouri— Andre, Cunha, Forbs, Lemina, Gomes — Larsen

Injured: Mosquera, Gonzalez, Kalajdzic, Hwang
Suspended: None

Guardiola will be relieved as his players return from international duty unscathed. Defender Nathan Ake, who suffered an injury in a previous international break, has returned to training but if he is involved at all it will be from the bench.

Kevin De Bruyne is in a similar situation to Ake and will not play as Guardiola opts not to take any risks with his star playmaker, who suffered a thigh injury against Inter Milan last month.

Rodri is out for the season with an ACL injury, while Oscar Bobb will continue to be on the sidelines due to a broken leg.

Man City predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Ederson (GK) — Lewis, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol — Gundogan, Kovacic — Silva, Foden, Grealish — Haaland

Injured: Ake (doubt) De Bruyne, Rodri, Bobb
Suspended: None
