Newcastle get the chance to dish out some instant payback when they host Chelsea in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer were on target as Enzo Maresca’s side beat the Magpies 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday, leaving Eddie Howe’s side languishing 12th in the table.
Chelsea are competing well at home and abroad this term and reached the final of this competition last season under Mauricio Pochettino, although they needed penalties to sink Newcastle in the quarterfinal.
It’s another good reason for Eddie Howe’s men to be out for revenge. The Sporting News previews the game here.

Newcastle vs. Chelsea lineups, confirmed starting 11, team news
Anthony Gordon‘s absence was keenly felt at the weekend as the England winger sat out at Stamford Bridge with a groin injury suffered in training.
“He’s been for a scan, we’re hopeful the injury isn’t serious, let’s see how he is today,” Howe said in his pre-match press conference. “There is a chance he [could play this week] but we have to make the right decision.”
The news from the scan was clearly positive and Gordon starts alongside Alexander Isak and Joe Willock in the Newcastle front three
Teenage midfielder Lewis Miley is back on the bench after seven months out with a foot injury.
