Arsenal return to Premier League action with a trip to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle in Saturday’s early kick-off (12:30pm), and we’ve got the latest team news and confirmed lineups, as well as a prediction included in our preview.
Newcastle vs Arsenal Preview
The Premier League returns for Gameweek 10 on Saturday, and we kick things off with one of the standout fixtures of the weekend as Newcastle United host high-flying Arsenal at St. James’ Park in the early kick-off.
Last weekend, Eddie Howe’s side fell to a 2-1 defeat away at Chelsea, extending their winless run in the English top-flight to five straight matches, but they bounced back in midweek, facing off against Chelsea again, claiming a 2-0 victory in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
The Magpies’ poor run in the league sees them occupy 12th place in the table, but a win on Saturday would see them climb up to eighth, albeit for just a couple of hours.
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners meanwhile, are up in third place, five points adrift of leaders Manchester City, and they too come into this one off the back of a victory in the cup – a comfortable 3-0 win against Preston on Wednesday evening.

As for their form in the league though, Arsenal are without a win in their last two matches. Last weekend they threw away the lead on two occasions to draw 2-2 with Liverpool, and they were beaten 2-0 by Bournemouth the weekend prior.
Saturday’s clash will be the first meeting between Newcastle and the Gunners since February, where the North Londoners claimed a mighty 4-1 victory at home, with Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Jakub Kiwior getting on the scoresheet.
Newcastle Team News
The Magpies were boosted by the return of star winger Anthony Gordon for their cup clash on Wednesday, and after featuring for 72 minutes in the win, the England international is in from the off for Arsenal’s visit.
Jacob Murphy though, is absent, with Howe putting his omission down to a minor hamstring injury, but Alexander Isak, who came off limping against the Blues, is fit to start.
Meanwhile, Jamaal Lascelles (knee), Sven Botman (knee), Kieran Trippier (thigh) and Callum Wilson (back) are all ruled out through injury.
Arsenal Team News
Despite Gabriel missing the Preston game on Wednesday following his knock against Liverpool last weekend, the Brazilian is fit for the trip up to Tyneside, bolstering the Arsenal defence, which will also see the return of William Saliba from suspension.
Martin Odegaard (ankle), Riccardo Calafiori (knee), Kieran Tierney (hamstring) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee) remain on the sidelines, while Ben White drops to the bench.
Newcastle vs Arsenal Confirmed Lineups
Newcastle Confirmed Lineup:

Arsenal Confirmed Lineup:

Newcastle vs Arsenal Prediction
Their win over Chelsea in midweek was no mean feat, but Newcastle’s awful form in the league simply cannot be ignored, so we, like the UK’s best football betting sites, are favouring Arsenal to claim all three points on Saturday.
As previously mentioned, the Gunners comfortably came out on top when the pair last met earlier in the year, while they have also won 10 of their last 13 meetings, so history is on Arteta’s side.
The availability of Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz should be a cause for concern for the Magpies too. We expect the attacking quartet to cause the hosts’ defence plenty of problems to kickstart the weekend.
Prediction: Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal
