Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Manchester United is edging closer following his final home game in charge of Sporting CP.
The 39-year-old has signed a contract at Old Trafford until the end of the 2026/27 season as he replaces Erik ten Hag in Manchester.
Amorim’s signed off in front of the home crowd at the Estadio Jose Alvalade with a superb 4-1 UEFA Champions League win over Manchester City – much to the delight of his new fan base.

He will take charge of Sporting CP for one final time away, at former side Sporting Braga on November 10, before formally starting his Red Devils contract the following day.
Amorim will utilise the November international break to assess his squad before his first match on November 24 at Ipswich Town in Premier League action.
As part of his plans for United, Amorim is expected to tweak their tactical formation, with greater balance needed in defence.
With more pace and flexibility required in his back line, the Portuguese coach will be delighted by reports of Leny Yoro returning to full training for the first time since his summer arrival from Lille.
United beat Real Madrid to a transfer deal for the France international in July as they secured a £52m ($67m) agreement with the Ligue 1 club ahead of their preseason tour of the USA.
However, Yoro was desperately unlucky to suffer a broken foot just days after joining up with the tour, and he has not featured for United since.
The latest indication from the Daily Mirror conforms Yoro is on track in his recovery, that the incoming break will allow him step up fitness work, and he could feature against Ipswich, slightly ahead of schedule.
