Manchester United won their first European game for more than a year as Amad Diallo led them to a 2-0 home win over PAOK in the UEFA Europa League.
The winger headed home the opener early in the second half before thundering home a second after pressuring former Chelsea defender Baba Rahman into an error.
It was United’s first win in continental football of the season, the Red Devils having drawn their first three league-phase games, and it was a first three points in Europe since they beat Copenhagen 1-0 at home in the Champions League last October.

The first half of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s penultimate match in charge was something of a drab affair in which Amad was by far the liveliest player in a red shirt. He should arguably have been awarded a penalty after being bundled over in the box by Rahman, but the officials were unmoved.
Amad found the breakthrough four minutes after the restart, looping a header into the far corner of the net after being picked out by an excellent Bruno Fernandes cross.
United have made a habit in the past year of giving up leads in Europe — they were winning each of their games against Twente, Porto and Fenerbahce this season, only to draw them — and Tarik Tissoudali spurned a glorious chance to equalise for PAOK when his tame shot was saved by Andre Onana after he was picked out in clear space near the penalty spot.
Amad duly punished that miss, and Rahman’s decision to dawdle on the ball, as he outmuscled the full-back before crashing in a left-footed shot from 20 yards out.
Van Nistelrooy will be pleased with the result and clean sheet, even if the overall performance left a little to be desired. He will now turn his attention to Leicester City at home on Sunday — his last match as caretaker manager before Ruben Amorim’s new era begins.

Man United vs. PAOK lineups, team news
United will still be without long-term injury absentees Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Antony, while the game also comes too soon for Kobbie Mainoo, who has been out with a hamstring issue. There is good news with Leny Yoro back in full training after a long lay-off, although it seems very unlikely he will be rushed back for this fixture.
Mason Mount and Harry Maguire are still doubtful but Bruno Fernandes is available again after serving his suspension for a red card against Porto. Van Nistelrooy may give a chance to Joshua Zirkzee up front while Victor Lindelof could come in from the start at the back.

Former United youngster Shola Shoretire could feature for the Greek side. He joined PAOK in the summer after a number of years in the Old Trafford academy ranks. Ex-Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren is a familiar name, but he’s not been named in the squad so won’t feature in this game.
Tiemoue Bakayoko, once of Chelsea, will also be absent through injury, while fellow former Blue Baba Rahman should start at full-back.
