Tom Selleck has been pictured in public for the first time since Blue Bloods finished filming.
It was revealed late last year that after 14 years, the CBS drama was coming to an end with a two-part 14th season.
Magnum PI actor Tom took on the role of New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan in 2010, but as he closes the door to playing a TV cop, he’s been pictured looking quite different.
The actor, 79, was spotted in July in California, weeks after the series finished filming, heading for a workout at his local gym.
Enjoying the sunny weather, Tom opted for shorts and a black t-shirt, paired with trainers.
While he still sported his trademark moustache, the star has also grown out a silver beard to match.
Tom is said to have returned to California after a long period of commuting back and forth from the East Coast, where he filmed Blue Bloods for 14 years.
The Friends actor didn’t hide his disappointment that the show was ending, admitting it will take him a ‘long time’ to get over it.
He told TV Insider in January: ‘CBS will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it.
‘The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year. We’re certainly not out of ideas.’
Talking about whether he’s ‘ready’ to retire to his ranch, he added: ‘I’m not counting the days so I can do something else. I love the work.
‘Sometimes the hours are a little harder because I’m older, but so what? I want work as long as they’ll have me.’
After filming wrapped, with the final season set to air later this year, it was reported Tom had returned to California to enjoy some time on the ranch he shares with his wife, Jillie Mack.
‘He wants to relax on his ranch, walk around his property, spend time with his wife and family, and travel a bit,’ a source told Closer magazine earlier this year, according to MailOnline.
‘Tom and Jillie can just sit at home, cook, go for a long walk and be very content. He adores Jillie and trusts her to schedule activities or travel plans.
‘He’s looking forward to having more free time to spend with her.’
More recently, Tom revealed that he ‘didn’t like’ being an 80s TV icon in an appearance on the podcast Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson (sometimes).
Speaking about his breakout role as private investigator Thomas Magnum in Magnum, P.I., ‘I started getting asked questions in interviews that I didn’t want to say, give an answer to.
‘I was trying to, I said, “You better find a way and find a line about what you’re going to talk about.” I didn’t always succeed, but it just grew, and I still can’t quite describe it.’
He confessed: ‘It was really, I don’t know, a lot to adjust to, I think.’
Blue Bloods airs on CBS in America, with the first ten seasons also available to stream on Paramount+.
