London, United Kingdom (Urban Transport News):  Arriva Slovenia has secured a substantial contract to manage regional public transport services across several key regions in Slovenia. This agreement is set to significantly expand Arriva’s market presence by over four percent within the regional bus sector.

The newly awarded contract covers transportation services in four Slovenian regions: Gorenjska in the north, Podravska in the north-east, Osrednjeslovenska in the central region, and Obalno-kraška in the west. Notably, this contract is the largest ever bus contract to be granted in Slovenia.

Commencing on July 1, 2024, the contract is valued at approximately €274 million over a five-year period. Furthermore, there is an option to extend the contract for an additional three years. As part of this agreement, Arriva will be responsible for operating nearly 300 vehicles, covering a distance of over 24 million kilometers. This represents an eight percent increase compared to previous operations. Around 750 employees will be supporting Arriva’s operational activities.

Sian Leydon, Arriva Group Managing Director for Mainland Europe, expressed her enthusiasm about this achievement, stating: “This is a fantastic win for our team in Slovenia. Being awarded the largest single bus contract ever is something to be incredibly proud of and is a testament to our excellent reputation and the success of our business in Slovenia. We have a strong track record of delivering reliable and sustainable bus travel throughout the country, and I’m proud of the team and what has been achieved. We can now look to the future with confidence in Slovenia.”

For Arriva Slovenia, the regional bus lines constitute a significant portion of their operations, accounting for 85 percent of their business in the country. This contract win is expected to provide stability for Arriva’s employees and offer reassurance to customers who rely on Arriva’s quality services and international expertise.
