Grenada UK Promotional Cricket Tour 2023 to be held from Jul 21 to Aug 2, know schedule – WIC News

The Grenada UK Promotional Cricket Tour 2023 is ongoing in the United Kingdom from July 21 to August 2. The 20-player Grenadian team comprises a mix of senior and emerging players looking to make their mark in the game.

The team departed the Maurice Bishop International Airport on July 19. Before departure, Minister for Sports Ron Redhead met with and bade the team farewell, reminding them to be Ambassadors for the country.

The tour is being held under the theme “It’s not just cricket; it’s a vibe”. The second edition of this promotional tour was launched in 2022 by the Grenada Tourism Authority in collaboration with the Grenada Cricket Association to increase the country’s visibility among cricket fans in the UK – the birthplace of cricket.

During this tour, the team will embark on a UK promotional tour by visiting schools, cricket clubs, county age groups, cricket academies, and professional club teams in the UK.

The schedule of the Grenada UK Promotional Cricket Tour 2023 is as follows:

Friday, July 21: 11 am – Grenada First vs Hertfordshire

The aim of the Grenada tourism authority behind hosting this tour is to showcase the passion and enthusiasm of Grenadians’ love of this sport whilst persisting to export and share the culture and cuisine for the British to enjoy.

Notably, the Grenadian team lost the first match on July 21 and won the second on July 25. Following the defeat in the first match, the Grenada Cricket Association said, “Game 1 in the bag on our promotional tour of the UK, close encounter and enjoyable game. Thank you, West Herts Cricket Club, for being wonderful hosts.”

In the second match on tour, the Grenadian team won against West Herts Invitational XI by 8 wickets.

The highlights of the second match are as follows:
