Top female jockey Hollie Doyle is closing in on a landmark 1,000 career wins after winning her 997th race at Ripon on Tuesday 27th August – with the ‘pocket rocket’ rider expected to hit the magic number this week.

Arguably the world’s best female horse racing jockey, Hollie Doyle has broken many milestones during her career that started in 2014 – and she’s closing in on another.
Having ridden the Archie Watson-trained Zayer to win a Class 4 Maiden at Ripon on Tuesday 27th August, Doyle recorded her 100th win of the 2024 season and her 997th of her career.
Meaning she’s now in touching distance of the magical 1,000th career wins landmark.
Doyle, who finished third in the 2020 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards, has flown the flag for female jockeys in the UK and around the world and backed this up once again with a top Group One win on Bradsell in the Nunthorpe Stakes at the York Ebor Festival recently (watch below).
After winning on Zayer at Ripon, Hollie Doyle told SkySports Racing.
“It’s good to get that done, especially for the team at Archie’s. He’s a really nice horse and we’ve always thought highly of him,”
“The further he went the better, he’s quite unfurnished and weak still so he found the track quite challenging, but I think he’ll be a nice horse next year.”

When Will Hollie Doyle Ride Her 1000th Career Win?
With just three wins to grab her 1,000th career win, Hollie Doyle is fully expected to hit the milestone this week – or during September at the latest.
Doyle has just one booked ride on Wednesday 28th August. Which is on the outsider Calanthe in the 7:00 at Kempton.
However, she’s a full book of six rides at Newbury on Thursday 29th August, plus more mounts at Sandown over their two-day meeting this Friday (30th Aug) and Saturday (31st Aug).
Therefore, there is a good chance Doyle will hit the 1000 career wins by the end of August, but if not – then it will be heavy odds-on with the best UK horse racing betting sites she achieves the feat in September.
Hollie Doyle will also be trying to match fellow female jockey Hayley Turner on 1000 career wins. Turner notched her 1000th success in the saddle back in November 2023.
