The world’s best tennis players have arrived in London ahead of the sport’s crown jewel over the next two weeks, as the 2024 Wimbledon Championships from the All England Club get started Monday, July 1.
Edition 137 of tennis’ oldest, proudest and most prestigious grand slam event is all set to be one of the best Wimbledon tournaments we’ve seen in years, with so many top players coming into the competition following sensational form so far on the ATP Tour.
New world No. 1 Jannik Sinner is the surprise first-placed seed ahead of defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and seven-time winner Novak Djokovic. The latter two contested an epic 2023 final on Centre Court.
Iga Swiatek has held her No. 1 spot in the WTA rankings for some time now, and after winning her third French Open title in a row last month, comes into the tournament looking for a maiden victory at Wimbledon having never previously progressed beyond the quarterfinals.
There are also two of Britain’s brightest hopes ranked in the top 32 seeds of the respective ATP and WTA competitions, with Katie Boutler sat as a 32nd-placed outsider in the women’s seedings and Jack Draper — who recently defeated 2023 winner Carlos Alcaraz at Queens Club — ranked at 28th among the men.
