Former Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has vehemently rejected recent speculations claiming his migration to the United Kingdom, asserting his unwavering commitment to Pakistan.
In response to circulating reports suggesting his move to the UK, Sarfaraz dismissed the rumours and said that he can’t even think of leaving Pakistan. He urged the media to confirm before running such fabricated news.
“I can’t even think of leaving Pakistan. Confirm before running such fabricated news,” Sarfaraz Ahmed emphasised during the interview. Sad to see such news,” Sarfaraz said in an interview with Samaa Digital.
The speculation gained momentum amid concerns about Sarfaraz’s future in the national team following subpar performances, notably in a Test match against Australia, where he scored only seven runs. Subsequently, Mohammad Rizwan took his place for the remaining two Test matches during the Australia tour.
Despite a return to the Test side in December 2022 after a nearly four-year hiatus, Sarfaraz faced scrutiny. In the interview, the cricketer urged the media to verify news before publication, expressing disappointment over the spread of such unfounded information.
Quetta Gladiators manager Azam Khan also refuted the migration reports, revealing that Sarfaraz had traveled to the UK with his family to visit his son, who is studying there.
“Sarfaraz had gone to see his son, who is studying in England, with his family,” clarified Azam Khan.
Sarfaraz expressed a desire to continue playing for the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL
The 36-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, who led Pakistan to victory in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, remains focused on his cricketing future. Despite uncertainties, Sarfaraz expressed a desire to continue playing for the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
As the upcoming PSL season approaches, fans anticipate Sarfaraz’s return to the Quetta Gladiators, aiming to clinch the title for the first time since their victory in 2019. Sarfaraz’s dedication to the sport and his commitment to representing Pakistan remain unwavering, dispelling any notions of an imminent move to the UK.
