This week, the Israel Ministry of Innovation, together with its British counterpart, announced the start of a joint scientific collaboration program focused on transformative technologies.
The initiative will have funding of 9 million shekels, that is, £1.8 million pounds.
Building on a Memorandum of Understanding to increase collaboration in science, innovation and technology signed in 2023 by representatives of both countries, the program will fund three-year collaborative research projects.
The objective is to finance projects in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and quantum technology applied to drug discovery and food technology.
Simon Walters, British Ambassador to Israel, stated in relation to this alliance that “the United Kingdom and Israel have built a strong relationship in science and technology; “The launch of the first bilateral research call between the UK and Israel marks a significant milestone, elevating the already fruitful collaboration between our research communities.”
The first call for proposals for scientists from Israel and the United Kingdom was recently launched and will close on September 30 of this year.
