Juventus and Manchester City are each in dire need of a win as they prepare for an intriguing UEFA Champions League encounter in Turin.

City twice battled back from behind to draw 2-2 at Crystal Palace last weekend but have now won just one of their past nine matches across all competitions.

There were a couple of surprise inclusions in Pep Guardiola’s travelling party to Italy but injuries continue to bite for the Premier League champions.

Juve are still acclimatising to life under the highly regarded Thiago Motta. They have become draw specialists, finishing all square in nine of their 15 undefeated Serie A games. Each of Juventus’s past four games across all competitions have finished honours even.

Motta was boosted by the return of striker Dusan Vlahovic from a thigh injury at the weekend and his first-choice No. 9 is in from kickoff tonight.

Danilo starts as captain against his former club, while Douglas Luiz and Weston McKennie have recovered from their respective setbacks to be named among the substitutes.

Phil Foden (illness) and Mateo Kovacic (muscular) each returned to training on Tuesday and are part of City’s 22-man travelling squad. Both are on the bench but any involvement on the field is likely to be minimal.

Guardiola has made minimal changes despite Sunday’s derby against Manchester United being on the horizon. Kevin De BruyneBernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan all make their third start in eight days.

Rico Lewis will miss the United match after being sent off at Palace but retains his place in an unchanged back four along with under-fire captain Kyle Walker.
