Having won the Long Distance Cup at Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday 19th October, many horse racing followers were questioning if Kyprios might be retired and head off to stud.
Still an entire, Kyprios is expected to have a fruitful career at stud when the horse is officially retired, but in a recent interview with ITV Racing’s Richard Hoiles – Fiona Criag from the Moyglare Stud has said “While he’s sound and well, he’ll race.”

Kyprios Won ALL Seven Races He’s Contested This Year
Having been beaten by Trawlerman in the 2023 Long Distance Cup at Ascot just over a year ago, some thought at that stage trainer Aidan O’Brien might pull up stumps on the career of Kyprios.
However, with a winter to freshen up one of the best staying flat horses in modern times returned with a win at Navan in a Listed race in April.
That success later turned out to be the first of seven in-a-row for the horse that “loves to race” – after adding top Group Ones that included the Goodwood Cup, Ascot Gold Cup and Irish St Leger.
In total, Kyprios won four Group One races this season (see all his 2024 wins below) and added a Listed, Group 2 and Group 3 just for good measure too.
His final win in 2024 came in the Group 2 Long Distance Cup at Ascot on Champions Day (watch below), but the great news for punters is that this now won’t be the last time Kyprios is seen racing on the track.
