Lisa Macpherson-Fletcher named private client tax partner for RSM in Edinburgh

Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM UK has appointed Lisa Macpherson-Fletcher as tax partner. She joins the firm in its private client advisory team.

Lisa Macpherson-Fletcher commented, “I am excited to be working with a diverse range of businesses and a dynamic, client focused team of experts at RSM. I particularly love working closely with families, getting to know them, earning their trust, and helping them achieve their future planning goals.”

Macpherson-Fletcher joins RSM UK as the firm’s clients look to adapt to a number of major financial changes from late 2024. In particular, she pointed to “last year’s budget” which “increased the need to support those with significant land and estates who want to understand how recent changes might impact their businesses, property and inheritance planning”, meaning she now expects to be “very busy.”

Arriving at RSM with more than 20 years of experience, Macpherson-Fletcher specialises in advising clients from a range of industries and sectors in succession and estate planning for family businesses, particularly for large estates, landowners and agricultural clients. She commenced her tax career at Deloitte on the firm’s graduate trainee scheme, where she developed a number of technical specialisms, before spending a further eight years at Saffery.

She also has experience gained as a tax director at leading Scottish law firm Gillespie Macandrew.  These links to the legal sector are reinforced through her role as a Scotland Branch Committee Member and Treasurer for STEP Scotland (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners).

Looking ahead, Macpherson-Fletcher will be based in RSM’s Edinburgh office, and support clients across the UK. She will continue to work closely with the legal sector to provide collaborative and cohesive advice to her clients.

Gary Heynes, head of private client services, RSM UK, added, “I am delighted that Lisa is now part of our national private client team. RSM’s mid-market focus means we predominantly advise private businesses and their owners, and the Autumn Budget has given rise to a significant increase in enquiries around succession and inheritance tax planning, particularly from family business owners and those in the farming sector. Lisa’s experience in estate and succession planning arrives at just the right time and will be invaluable for the current demand for advice in these areas.”
