Manchester United will seek to respond to Ruben Amorim’s first defeat when they face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

A 2-0 loss to Arsenal on Wednesday represented the new Red Devils boss’ first Premier League loss and a first top-flight defeat as a coach since December 2023.

The defeat left United down in 11th place in the table, seven points off the top four and three behind next opponents Forest, who were beaten 3-0 by champions Manchester City this week.

Amorim has made more changes to his team as he eases some long-term absentees back to full fitness while allowing others to acclimatise to his methods in these early weeks of his tenure.

Amorim said after the Arsenal defeat that he was having to manage the work load of some players carefully, so changes to the lineup for Forest’s visit come as little surprise.

Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez are back from suspension, and Leny Yoro makes his first start in the Premier League after impressing off the bench at the Emirates Stadium.

Mason Mount drops to the bench, with Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund joining Bruno Fernandes in attack.

Tyrell Malacia is among the substitutes, with Diogo Dalot starting on the left as the Dutchman continues to build full fitness.
