Manchester United’s plan on Saturday was straightforward. Sack manager Erik ten Hag after the FA Cup final at Wembley.
But the Dutchman threw a spanner in the works by guiding United to a 2-1 win over Manchester City to make it back-to-back seasons with a trophy for the under-fire manager.
A run to the FA Cup final kept the Dutchman in his job, and victory secured the club’s place in next season’s Europa League.
However, it is believed the club have spoken to representatives of possible replacements about taking over at Old Trafford, if the club decide to move on from Ten Hag.

Prior to United’s Wembley win, speculation was rife that Saturday’s game would be Ten Hag’s last, but three days after teenagers Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo secured a famous win, the former Ajax manager is still in his position.
But for how much longer? The best betting sites are monitoring the situation closely and updating their odds on who will replace Ten Hag accordingly.
Free Agent Pochettino Favourite
It was one and done as Chelsea manager for Mauricio Pochettino, whose departure from Stamford Bridge was announced two days after the Premier League season ended.
A mutual parting of the ways came after the Blues ended their season with a 2-1 win at home against Bournemouth.
It was the Blues’ fifth successive win and helped the club finish sixth to secure a place in next season’s Europa Conference League.
If United are to make a change, then the former Tottenham and Paris St-Germain boss, who is the 2/1 favourite on football betting sites, has the experience to be the club’s next manager.

United Keen On McKenna, But Will He Leave Ipswich?
Two days before the FA Cup final, it was reported that United had held talks with Kieran McKenna’s representatives about being United’s next manager.
McKenna, who is the 3/1 second favourite on betting apps, led Ipswich to back-to-back promotions in his first managerial position.
However, it was reported on Monday that McKenna will sign a new contract to keep him at Portman Road.
Signing a deal like that doesn’t mean he will stay at Ipswich, it might just be Town’s way of getting more compensation if a club like United take their manager.
Keeping Ipswich in the Premier League will be a tough challenge, as the three promoted sides found out this season.
There won’t be much pressure on McKenna next season if he stayed put, but the chance to manage a club like Manchester United doesn’t come along very often.

Tuchel Still High On Betting Market
The summer could have looked so much better for Thomas Tuchel had his Bayern Munich side not choked and thrown away a place in Saturday’s Champions League final.
The Bavarian side were just two minutes away from beating Real Madrid, who scored twice in the closing stages to break the hearts of the Germans in the semi-final, second leg.
Tuchel has already won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, so that is an achievement that will impress potential new employers.
But a third-placed finish in the Bundesliga, which ended with 4-2 defeat at Hoffenheim, might count against him.
Tuchel’s odds to be given the job of returning Manchester United back to challenging for the title are 5/1.

De Zerbi Still After A New Job
On the eve of the final day of the Premier League season, Roberto de Zerbi announced he would be leaving Brighton this summer.
The Italian got a brilliant send-off from the Brighton fans after their 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at the Amex Stadium, and he was tipped to replace Ten Hag.
However, the passionate Italian is also being linked to the vacancy at Chelsea and it could come down to which club he chooses.
De Zerbi’s odds are 6/1 to be Manchester United’s next manager.

Southgate’s Odds Begin To Drift
Now that the Premier League has ended, Gareth Southgate’s squad for this summer’s European Championship in Germany can begin to take shape.
The former Crystal Palace defender had been the long-time favourite for the Old Trafford job, but the 53-year-old’s odds have drifted a little on betting apps.
Southgate (12/1) will hope he can go one better in these Euros than he did three years ago when England were beaten in the final by Italy.
If the Three Lions do return to the final on Sunday, July 14, that wouldn’t give him much time to start work at United ahead of their season opener on the weekend of August 17.
This could be Southgate’s last major tournament as England manager and a return to club management could be next on his agenda.
Southgate’s contract expires at the end of the year and he insists his contractual situation is not an issue ahead of the Euros.

Frank Might Fancy Old Trafford Job
Brentford finished their third Premier League season in 16th place, just two places above the relegation zone.
The 13-point gap meant relegation was never really an issue for the Bees, but it might suggest Thomas Frank has taken the club as far as he can.
Would he fancy a change of scenery at this stage of his career? Frank has some big decisions to make in the summer.
Brentford supporters wouldn’t stand in his way if the Dane decided to move on from the Bees, but could Old Trafford be his next port of call?
Frank’s odds have gone from 12/1 to 20/1, which suggests interest in the Dane is cooling.
Interest In Potter Is Fading
Now that the domestic season is over, we might see Graham Potter return to football management, but where might he end up?
He has been linked with the United job for a number of months but he is still a candidate to replace Ten Hag, if United decide to make a change in the summer.
Potter is looking to rebuild his career after an unsuccessful spell at Stamford Bridge, which produced just 12 wins in 31 games.
The odds of Potter becoming the next Manchester United manager have gone from 3/1 to 20/1 in the last couple of weeks.
Anyone who witnessed Potter’s work at Swansea City and Brighton knows he is a sharp thinker who can combine style with results and his coaching acumen is not in doubt.

Zidane Stays On The List
Zinedine Zidane has been linked with United in the past, but he is 25/1 to make the move to Manchester.
The former France international won two Liga titles and three Champions Leagues across two spells at Real Madrid, where he proved adept at managing big personalities and keeping everyone happy.
Zidane’s tactical astuteness is often underestimated, but he is untested outside the unique environment of Madrid.
He has also been out of work for more than two years, which suggests he is not exactly in a rush to get back into management.

Hoeness Remains A Candidate
What a season it has been for Stuttgart, who finished the season second in the Bundesliga.
A 4-0 win at home to Borussia Monchengladbach meant they finished runners-up to the all-conquering Bayer Leverkusen.
It was Stuttgart’s best finish in over 20 years and manager Sebastian Hoeness deserves a lot of credit for turning the club’s fortunes around this season.
High-profile jobs like managing Manchester United may be offered to Hoeness (33/1) this summer, but he has a Champions League campaign to look forward to.

Why Jose Mourinho Is In The Mix
After being sacked by Roma in January, Jose Mourinho has been linked with a number of vacancies in European football.
A return to Old Trafford has been mentioned and he is 40/1 to replace Ten Hag if the club decide on a change of manager.
The Portuguese manager was in charge of the Red Devils between 2016-18, finishing second in his final full season, and winning the Europa League and League Cup during his reign.
But, after beginning the 2018/19 season with just seven wins in the first 17 Premier League games, Mourinho was sacked.
However, he is reportedly keen on a return to Old Trafford saying he would walk to Old Trafford if he was given the chance to manage the club again.
Ruben Amorim (20/1) is another manager who might be interested in a new job ahead of the 2024/25 season.
