Premier League has existed for 32 years and there have been quite a few records made. Here’s a look at top ten unique records in the league.

New Delhi: The English Premier League is one of the most watched sports in the world. The Premier League contests 20 clubs and the competition works on a system of promotion and relegation with the English Football League. All teams play 38 games, with each opponent playing one game at home and away.
Starting back in 1992, it was founded as the FA Premier League. Today it is broadcast over 212 territories and has an estimated audience of 4.7 billion people. On average, the Premier League attendance of 38,181 is only second to Germany’s Bundesliga. In the UEFA coefficient rankings based on performances in European competitions in the last five seasons, the Premier League ranks first, ahead of Spain’s La Liga.
Foundation of Premier League
Founded on February 20th, 1992, the FA Premier League (as it was known back then) inception was after the decision of clubs of First Division, the previous top-tier league, to break away from the English Football League(EFL). The teams can still be relegated and promoted from the EFL Championship.
Most Premier League wins
Manchester United have won the most league wins with 13 Premier League trophies. Man City closely follows them with eight league wins, followed by Chelsea’s five, Arsenal’s three, and Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City and Liverpool have each won the league once.
Since its start, 51 clubs have competed in the Premier League, 49 of which are from England and two from Wales. Man-City also currently have the most number of successive. Only six clubs have featured in every Premier League edition, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Most Goals scored and Most appearances made
Alan Shearer is the all-time highest goalscorer in the Premier League, with 260 goals. Harry Kane is the second-highest goal scorer, with 213 goals, followed by Wayne Rooney, with 208 goals.
Gareth Barry holds the all-time record for most appearances with 653 in the competition, followed by James Milner’s 634 and Ryan Giggs’ 632.
Most points by a team in a single season
Manchester City holds the record for most points in a single season securing 100 points in the 2017-18 season. It was also the biggest title-winning difference, with 19 points difference from Manchester United’s 81 points scored during the season. In the process, they won a total of 32 games. In the next season, United missed replicating this by just two points. Derby County recorded the least points with 11 points from their 38 games in the 2007-08 season,
Arsenal’s invincible season
Arsenal have the longest streak of remaining unbeaten in 49 games between May 2003 and October 2004. Of these games, Arsene Wenger’s were unbeaten in 38 games in a single season. They are the only team to achieve this feat, with 26 wins and 12 draws in the season. This earned them the title of ‘invincibles’. Arsenal’s first loss came to Manchester United at the Old Trafford in 2004.
Premier League’s biggest margins
The Premier League has produced some big-margin games in its 31 seasons. The highest margin of win remains nine goals. Man United have twice won with a margin of nine goals. They first won 9-0 against Ipswich Town in 1995 and again with a 9-0 margin against Southampton in 2021. Southampton had already lost 0-9 to Leicester City in 2019, the highest margin of win in away games. Liverpool won 9-0 against Bournemouth in 2022.
Youngest and oldest player to ever play in
Ethan Nwaneri is the youngest player to ever play in league history. He played as a last-minute substitute in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Brentford in September 2022, when he was just 15 years and 181 days old. John Burridge is the oldest player to feature in a Premier League game when he appeared for Manchester City in their 3-2 defeat against QPR in May 1995. At the time, he was 43 years old and 162 days old.
Most goals scored
Manchester City scored the most goals in a season, 106, during the 2017-18 season. The least goals scored in a season are tied between Derby County (2007-08) and Sheffield United (2020-21), with 20. Chelsea has recorded the least goals conceded in a season, with just 15 goals conceded in 2004-05.
Most Wins by any team
Overall, Manchester United have won 744 games. In a season, Manchester City and Liverpool have both won 32 games, which is the most by any team in a single edition. Man City are the only team to have registered this twice, both in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.
Most Appearances by a player
