The great thing about Spreadex is that offers both normal fixed odds betting plus spread betting on horse racing. There are some key differences, of course, between this form of gambling and placing regular fixed odds bets.

Make the right call and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:

Andrew heads to York (the final day of the Ebor meeting) and Goodwood for his three recommended bets/trades on Saturday, August 24th…

YORK 1.50

There are two I like in the 1m2f Group 3 Strensall Stakes, York’s opener on Saturday, namely Phantom Flight and HAUNTED DREAM. Front-runner Phantom Flight strikes me as a win or blow out completely type of horse and the one to buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market (or back each-way in the fixed odd market) is undoubtedly Hamad Al Jehani’s runner.  Poorly drawn when down the field in the John Smith’s Cup Handicap at York last month, the five-year-old bounced back to land a 1m1f conditions contest at Glorious Goodwood, a victory that took his record in fields of 11 or fewer runners to 935121125322111 (6-15), improving to 11125322111 (6-11) over 1m1f or further. The lightning fast ground is another positive.

Recommendation: Back HAUNTED DREAMS in York 1.50

GOODWOOD 2.40

LEAD ARTIST dominates the betting for the Group 2 Celebration Mile but the recent rain (even more is forecast in the early hours of Saturday morning) has scuppered his chances. John & Thady’s Gosden’s three-year-old impressed with his attitude when landing a Group 3 over track and trip last time but that was on good to firm going and it’s worth remembering that he finished a disappointing third of six (6-4 favourite) at Newmarket on his penultimate start, the only time he’s encountered a going description with the word ‘soft’ in it. Selling him in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market is one angle but I’d rather buy the James Tate-trained ROYAL DRESS (or back her in the fixed odds betting). She caused a 33-1 upset in a soft-ground course and distance Listed race on her stable debut back in May and her only other small-field runs for her current handler produced a Group 3 Curragh win (last time out) and a desperately unlucky 14-1 third at Epsom, again in Group 3 company.

Recommendation: Back ROYAL DRESS in Goodwood 2.40

YORK 3.35

Geldings, who finished in the top six over a trip of 1m5f or further in their prep race, are nine from 69 in the past ten renewals of the Ebor for a profit of £60.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. This year’s qualifiers include Adam Nicol’s WISE EAGLE who has again gone under the radar thanks to his unfashionable connections. The seven-year-old finished to good effect when a 50-1 third in Group 3 company over course and distance last time and his record in the month of August stands at 7111 (3-4). Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back WISE EAGLE in York 3.35
