NO DRAMA returns from a mammoth 1117-day absence in this 3m2f handicap but it’s interesting that connections have persevered with the nine-year-old and new handler Richard Bandey has a fine record with chase debutants. He’s scored with seven of the 20 qualifiers for a profit of £97.25 to a £1 level stake at SP and No Drama is worth a small interest despite the long layoff.

Amanda Perrett has a useful record with second time out two-year-olds on the all-weather, scoring with 19 of the 94 qualifiers for a profit of £91.01 to a £1 level stake at SP. SPIRIT OF ALBION is her first qualifier on this system since Miss Down Under recorded a 14-1 victory at Kempton in October 2021 and the gelded son of Invincible Spirit is taken to improve for the switch of surfaces after finishing well held at Newmarket on last month’s debut.

One of the winners, 5-1 shot Dr Houseman, was a gelding running in a first-time hood and the gelded HUNTLY LODGE gets the same headgear in this 7f novice contest.

Hugo Palmer’s UNDER THE SUN has failed to beat a rival in two starts since gelded but those came in Group 3/Listed company, and he started at odds of 80-1 and 150-1 respectively. The three-year-old makes his handicap debut at Class 3 level today and the first-time blinkers could bring about some improvement. His trainer is 11 from 62 with geldings in first-time blinkers for a profit of £31.88 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 5.29, A/E = 2.08).
