The Western Conference Finals battle between the Timberwolves and Mavericks could be an epic series because it will feature two of the NBA’s most talented young stars going head-to-head.
Anthony Edwards has quickly become Minnesota’s leader. The 22-year-old has set the tone and produced for the team on a nightly basis, averaging 28.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.7 steals through two series. Edwards and the Wolves swept Kevin Durant and the Suns before outlasting Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets in a seven-game slugfest.
Luka Doncic will be looking to provide more “Luka Magic” for Dallas. He’s coming off an up-and-down series against the Thunder in which he averaged 24.7 points, 10.5 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game. Doncic notched a triple-double in each of the series’ final three games, shooting an efficient 47.4 percent from the floor and 42.3 percent from downtown.
During the regular season, Minnesota came out on top in three of the four meetings with Dallas, including the final matchup on Jan. 31. However, these teams look a lot different after altering their rosters via trades and pushing players into larger roles. Which squad will represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals?
