There is a big European presence at Del Mar racetrack this Friday and Saturday for the biggest two days on the US horse racing calendar – so to help locate the UK and Irish Breeders’ Cup runners we’ve showcased their entries for ALL 14 races below.
City Of Troy The Biggest UK and Irish Breeders’ Cup Runner
The big Breeders’ Cup story this year is all about one horse – City Of Troy.
This high class Aidan O’Brien runner will be flying the flag for Ireland (and Europe) in Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Classic – a race his trainer is yet to win despite winning 18 other championship races at the meeting.
City Of Troy, who is also this year’s Epsom Derby winner, was last seen winning the Juddmonte International at York (watch below) and the form of that race has been franked with the fourth – Bluestocking – coming out to win the Le Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in early October.
He’s also bred by US Triple Crown winner Justify, so it’s no shocker that City Of Troy is not only popular with the best horse racing betting sites in the UK, but also in America.
You can see all the Breeders’ Cup Classic runners here – but below we’ll also highlight any UK or Irish-trained entries in each of the 14 races.
In total, we make it 37 UK or Irish runners heading to Del Mar this Friday and Saturday.
