The United Kingdom hosting a WWE WrestleMania event may not happen any time soon since they have their eyes on another spectacle.

At the WWE Money in the Bank 2023 event, future Hall of Famer John Cena did a promo in the ring saying that he wanted to see a WrestleMania take place in England.

While there is no indication that WrestleMania is heading to England any time soon, WWE’s President Nick Khan and Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque did fly over to London, England to talk to London mayor Sadiq Khan and other officials.

Since the WWE executives went out of their way to make the trip to England and talk to the press about it, that led people to believe that maybe a WrestleMania in England could happen in the future.

England Wants To Host NFL’s Super Bowl More Than WWE WrestleMania

Wrestling fans might think that WrestleMania is the biggest annual sporting event, but in reality, the audience for the NFL’s Super Bowl is much bigger since they get over 100 million televised viewers in the US nearly every along with tens of millions of viewers in other countries.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer says that the UK is more focused on hosting the NFL’s Super Bowl over WrestleMania.

Cody Rhodes was on BBC Live talking about Mania in the U.K., and said, “If I’m aiming, it would be cool to get it in the next five years. There’s some really big venues over here that could host a WrestleMania. I think American fans would jump at the chance to come to a WrestleMania whether that be in Manchester or London, I think they’d go nuts for it.” There is real talk of that, but when (NFL Commissioner) Roger Goodell talked about the idea of a Super Bowl at Wembley Stadium, when it comes to WWE, they’re now in a distant second place when it comes to priorities in the city.

The United Kingdom hosts multiple NFL games every year and has done so for over a decade with a plan in place for more games in future years.
